EAB Event 2014-08-04 to 08: Summer Festival 2014

EAB Esperanto Summer Festival 2014

The Esperanto Summer festival will run at Shallowford House from the 4th – 8th August 2014. Arrival time is from 11.30 am and the course will commence with a lunch on Monday. The cost of the course, which finishes on Friday after lunch, is £234.00 for EAB members, or £260.00 for non-EAB-members. This includes all tuition fees, a continental breakfast, morning coffee, two-course lunch, afternoon tea & cake, plus a three-course evening meal. Shallowford House is only a few miles away from EAB's HQ Esperanto House and as usual we're hoping to build a visit to the Library, office and bookshop into the programme.

The programme is available here.
The event is now fully booked so it is no longer possible to book places.

The event includes courses/streams for progresantoj (people who know at least some of the language, perhaps from studying a beginner's correspondence course) led (this year) by Jack Warren, and for progresintoj (people who are reasonably fluent, seeking to exercise and extend their use of the language) led (this year) by Paul Gubbins. Both streams join together for (Esperanto) conversation during meals and tea-breaks, and for (Esperanto) talks and social events in the evenings. This event is not designed for absolute beginners who know nothing of the language.

The programme is relatively informal, and participation in every single timetabled session isn't compulsory - you're free to "duck out" if you'd prefer to take the opportunity to explore Shallowford's gardens or the surrounding Staffordshire countryside.

You can see some reports and photos of previous Esperanto Summer Festivals at Shallowford house

Book online:
Fully booked!

If possible, please use a debit card for orders over £14.00 (as our card transaction fees are lower).

For terms and conditions of online orders and payments, see the EAB Bookshop page.
The above items have no shipping charge.

If you want to include some books, CDs, DVDs or sundries from the EAB bookshop as part of your order,
just add those to the shopping cart too, before proceeding to the checkout.

Travel: If you are arriving by train then Stafford is the nearest station. There is an infrequent local bus service (Stafford - Norton Bridge, Arriva service, bus nos 490/491, only one bus every approx 2 hours, from morning to mid-afternoon), or the EAB office can advise you of a recommended taxi firm with an agreed rate, and might be able to suggest a taxi-pooling arrangement if several people plan to arrive around the same time.
