Latest Concerning Barlaston - Update
Stop Press: There have now been several exchanges of information and requests for clarification in the dialogue between the solicitors of the Esperanto Association of Britain and the City of Stoke-on-Trent. Matters under discussion at present include access and parking. EAB wishes to achieve an agreement which covers all reasonable contingencies. A draft contract has now been requested. Progress made so far gives cause for encouragement.

Latest Concerning Barlaston
Negotiations are underway between EAB and the City of Stoke-on-Trent which owns Wedgwood Memorial College. They are complex as they involve a library, an office, accommodation and joint use of certain facilities.
The first proposals received in February from the City were inadequate in certain important respects. It is hoped that after further discussions which have been taking place that a revised contract will be drawn up by Stoke-on-Trent.
EAB is receiving legal advice from its Solicitor. It is a statutory necessity that such advice should be obtained.
The Management Committee understands the desire of the membership for positive progress; but it is essential that all matters are given adequate consideration and that there should be a mutually acceptable contract.
Five estimates have been received for the building works based upon a detailed specification. A decision concerning which firm will carry out the work will be made in due course after consultation with the Architect.
Planning Permission Granted for New Esperanto HQ
Planning permission has been granted by Stoke-on-Trent Council for the development of the Esperanto Centre and Butler Memorial Library at Wedgwood Memorial College. The Architect has been directed to prepare detailed plans so that tenders be arranged. To the left is pictured the coach house which will converted into an office and three study bedrooms. The library will be built to the rear of the building.
